Years ago I took Writing 101 through Chemeketa community College online. I've been writing my whole life. I've had poetry published, have a novel in the works.... but every assignment that I submitted into this class was received very badly. When all was said and done, I had failed and the teacher had told me that I should never write again. Seriously.
Needless to say, I did not take that advice. Writing is a passion and I can't not do it. And I've had more stuff published since that class. His advice did slow me down for a bit, though.
I am currently taking an online photography class. And it's time to turn in some homework. The writing class pops into my head as I try to choose which photos to submit. I have not been able to pick any yet. But life is about taking chances. And I will submit by the end of the weekend. He could either give me constructive criticism which I can learn from, or he can be negative and not helpful. I've heard he is a great teacher, so... I think I will gain a lot from this class. It's just about taking that chance.
Yesterday I said how much I love digital... but Sandy commented about darkroom development... yes, that is preferable... IF you develop your film yourself. It's pure magic. Someday I hope to do that again.
So... taking chances daily. Life is good!

P.S.- are you getting my emails??
Robyn -- this is why we need to question our teachers at times, and when we have dreams, never let ANYbody tell us we can't. We are "conditioned" to listen to our teachers and elders, etc., but sometimes even the best of them are wrong.

Eleanor loves the photo of the train tracks. The train always implies a journey -- to somewhere.
"When does the next train arrive?" Eleanor asks.
She's ready for the "All Aboard!"
Never write again.....what a weenie! Good thing there aren't any creative police to determine who is allowed to create and who isn't!
